Batu Kitang State Assemblyman, Lo Khere Chiang hit out at Hannah Yeoh’s statement
Batu Kitang State Aseemblyman, Lo Khere Chiang expressed amazement at the immaturity of Deputy Minister for Woman, Family and Community, Hannah Yeoh who asked Sarawakians to shed the Sarawak sentiment in a forum recently.
Lo pointed out that Yeoh certainly did not take into consideration the feelings of us Sarawakians, a trait that many Malayan possess, bossy and domineering and she has the cheek to come to Sarawak to do so.
He suggested to Yeoh to go back to school and study the real history of Sabah and Sarawak. “She should be educated that the status of Sabah and Sarawak are equal partners with Peninsular Malaysia. She should understand that for the past decades, Sarawak has been robbed again and again by them. While she enjoyed good roads, good infrastructures, development from our oil and gas in Peninsular Malaysia, us Sarawakians were left to beg for development. And today, unfortunately, we are still begging” he said.
Explaining that after losing Federal government and rejecting BN, Lo said Sarawak’s party coalition GPS was working hard to get back our autonomy and rights.
“Even during the late Chief Minister, Datuk Patinggi Adenan Satem’s time, he was leading us to fight for what belonged to us. The MA 63 has spelled that out clearly in black and white but what do we have. Development is at a snail pace for us, there are rural areas where basic enmities are not available, our dilapidated schools are not repaired fast enough, our hospitals overcrowded, specialists not enough, doctors not enough…, I can go on and on the injustice we put up all these years.
He urged Yeoh to understand Sarawakians sentiment and the hardship due to what Peninsular had put Sarawak through all these decades. “This is the right time for us to fight for our autonomy and rights and we, GPS will stand together with Sarawakians to fight for what is ours!” he added.
