Tan Sri Peter: If anyone wants to leave, then leave

SUPP President, Tan Sri Peter Chin gave a strong message to those who have jumped ship to either stay in or get out of SUPP.

Chin wanted to see a clear cut stand of loyalty from SUPP leaders and members instead of enjoying having two legs in two parties at the same time.

After the Central Working Committee (CWC) yesterday, Chin said that the party will be writing a letter to those from SUPP who claimed to have left to join Parti Tenaga Rakyat Sarawak (Teras).

He said these people must have a firm stand on where they want to be and the party would get a verification from them.

Chin pointed out on former Sibu branch chairman, Dato’ Wong Soon Koh who together with Datuk Dr. Jerip Susil (Bengoh), Johnichal Rayong (Engkilili), Ranum Mina (Opar) who claimed to have quit SUPP to team up with former President of Sarawak Progressive Party (SPDP), Tan Sri William Mawan and 4 G comprising of Datuk Peter Nansian(Tasik Biru), Slyvester Entri (Marudi) Paulus Gumbang (Bau Danau) and Rosy Yunus (Bekenu). Joining them was George Lagong (Pelagus) from Sarawak Workers’ party (SWP).

“The letter will be issued by the central secretariat, and within these 14 days, we want them to verify either they are loyal to SUPP or they want to leave the party and join Teras,” he said

Chin said that those who are seen to be participating in activities supporting Wong should also make their stand clear whether they want to be with SUPP or Teras.

When asked on whether he had discussed the matter with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak during the PM visit to Miri, Chin said he has already informed the PM that he is not going to support Teras as a Barisan Nasional (BN) component party.

“In the BN constitution, a new party who wished to join must be accepted by all coalition parties of the BN before they could be accepted in. As a BN leader, they would go back to the Constitution before making a final decision so that they will be fair to all the coalition involved,” he said.

He cited an example that Larry from Sarawak Workers Party (SWP) could not be in BN as there were some disagreement from the coalition party on accepting him.

On whether Teras has the blessing of the PM and CM to jump ship and formed their own party, Chin said, “I honestly do not know if they got the blessing of the the Prime Minister or Chief Minister to form Teras. I doubt so, as they would not want any spilt in the party,” he added.

During the CWC meeting, Chin said they discussed about Wong who had left the party but created a lot of controversial issue in the Sibu branch which were highlighted.

“We asked one of our appointed Sibu leader, who was the vice chairman Cheing Buong Toon, to join us and explain to us what is happening in Sibu. We are 100 percent behind Chieng to manage the party and when necessary, we will give them some financial support. We want to assure all those who are loyal to us to continue with the party struggle and we will make it,” he added.
