Dr Sim: we must not lose hope but continue to work hard
Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) will do their soul searching following the shocking defeat in the recent election and get up again to work for the people, said Party president, Datuk Dr. Sim Kui Hian.
He said the party will throw their support behind Chief Minister, Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari and worked with PBB, Party Rakyat Sarawak (PRS), and Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) to fight on for Sarawakians.
After raising the party’s flag in conjunction with the party’s 59th years anniversary celebration at the party headquarters, Dr. Sim said with the unity of the four component parties, they can face to win the war.
The party suffered a shocking loss in the recent general election after losing 6 of the seven seats contested.
Dr. Sim said despite the loss being painful, they should get up and continue to do what they should be doing by serving the people.
Calling on members not to be afraid of being in the opposition, Dr. Sim said this was not the first time the party was in the opposition as they can work as Opposition in the Federal government but should not forget they are the State government in Sarawak.
He said for the next three years, members need to work in unity and improve their shortfall and do better. He said it is time for them to carry out their work into the interior and focus on helping people of all races and religion. “We must be people eccentric, reach out to them and do better than before.
Dr. Sim said besides the party branch chairmen, the political secretaries, the community leaders, all have to work hard. “We may lost the battle but let us win the war,” he said.
