TS Peter – those who leave should resign

SUPP President Tan Sri Peter Chin said it is a moral responsibility and basic moral decency for former SUPP leaders and members to resign if they wished to join Parti Tenaga Rakyat Sarawak.

Speaking to reporters after a courtesy visit to Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Dr. Wong Soon Kai yesterday morning at his residence, Ting said those who joined Teras should resign from the party, from their state assemblyman status and from the ministerial position they held which they obtained through the party.

Chin was commenting on the statement made by Datuk Dr. Jerip Susil (Bengoh), Assistant Minister for Public Health who said recently that leaders of the Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) have no right to ask assemblyman who jumped ship to resign or vacate their seats.

Pointing out that he has no qualms for Teras to be formed, he would fight against Teras joining the Barisan Nasional camp.

Dato Seri Wong Soon Koh former Sibu SUPP Chairman, Datuk Jerip Susil (Bengoh), Ranum Mina (Opar) and Johnicol Rayong (Engkilili) teamed up with former Sarawak Progressive Democratic PArty President Mawan and for state assemblymen , Datuk Peter Nansian (Tasik Biru), Datuk Sylvester Entrie (Marudi), Paulus Palu Gumbang (Batu Danau), Rosey Yunus (Bekenu) and as well as Baram member of parliament, Anyie Ngau to join Teras announced on May 15th. Pelagus assemblyman from Parti Pekerja Sarawak (SWP) George Lagon too jumped on the bandwagon.

Although he had met the Prime Minister, Chin said he did not formally discussed the issue with him yet and said he is sure PM knows what is going on. He said be believed that the PM stance on Teras is the same as SUPP.

Chin said the party has no knowledge of how many SUPP members have jumped ship, but said this would be apparent in the branch elections.
