Yap on the mismanagement of governance in Penang
Many opposition leaders and YBs chose to criticize the government, blaming everything on BN government’s policies, said SUPP Sentosa Chairman, Wilfred Yap while commenting on the Penang big flood that claimed lives and caused ten of thousands of people to evacuate from their homes.
Even the PM and his wife were in Penang to assist.
He said Penang Chief minister Lim Guan Eng made a bold but necessary move the next day: he called Deputy Prime Minister at 3.30 in the morning, asking for federal government’s help. Soon after that, NGOs throughout the nation, even BN component parties from various states, arrived in the flood stricken state with aids and assistance, while those who could not provide physical help also showed moral support, all parties involved set aside their differences for a good cause—to help the people of Penang!
Such act only shows how immature and irresponsible these opposition leaders and YBs are. Rather than contributing ideas or criticisms in a more constructive and positive manner, they resorted to picking fault and making sarcastic comments, which on the contrary, is very destructive, because it could tarnish and dampen people’s spirit, especially those participated in various rescue missions, be it directly or indirectly.
“These opposition leaders would never run out of excuses to defend themselves in an attempt to cover up their mistakes, BN government seemed to be the perfect tool for them to shirk their responsibilities ”, said SUPP Kota Sentosa Branch Chairman Wilfred Yap.
Further more, he added that, almost a decade ago, DAP took over the administration power and became the state government when people of the state gave their mandates to the party’s candidates, believing that they could to a better job.
“While making sarcastic remarks and attacking the government through social media may attract a crowd, they did nothing to problems. It’s about time for Penang state government to explain to the people of Penang, where has the income, totaling in billions in state land sales gone to?”
Yap is greatly disappointed to see, that instead of using the funds to carry out flood mitigation projects or upgrading the state’s drainage system, the DAP led Penang state government gave priorities to its tunnel project and building bicycle lanes, and their hillslope projects seemed to have backfired.
Therefore, Yap is urging the people of Sarawak to learn from this incident by rejecting opposition leaders who do not know the true meaning of CAT (Creditability, Accountability, Transparency). Unlike Sarawak, he added that, people of Sarawak has a caring and people centric government under the dynamic leadership of YAB Datuk Patinggi Abg Zohari, who has recently allocated RM100mil to implement 114 high impact projects to mitigate flood throughout the state.
“Wouldn’t it be better, if the payment of consultancy fees for the Penang projects, totaling in a jaw dropping RM220mil be used to upgrade the drainage system or other flood mitigation projects? I do not intend to barge into the state affairs of Penang, but Sarawakians need to understand the true meaning of CAT. CAT is not merely empty talk but true, genuine actions.”
