Michael Tiang: Reply to Johnical Rayong
“Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, the BN Chairman was clear in his opening speech during the Pre-14th General Election closed door meeting held on last Saturday at Putera World Trade Centre, that all winnable candidates must be from BN component parties and they are to fill the seats and to win the seats for BN,” Michael Tiang, a political secretary to the Chief Minister of Sarawak in replying to United People’s Party (UPP) Youth Chief Dr. Johnichal Rayong’s earlier remarks in the press that Najib’s speech was meant to open up the BN seats to any winnable candidates so long they can win seats for BN.
“There was not a scintilla of confusion as to where the winnable candidates are from during the whole meeting on last Saturday. The reason is very simple – after all it was a BN closed door meeting exclusively for the 13 BN component parties to attend and Najib’s message was also meant for the BN component parties only.”
Tiang added that, “even Rayong could have overheard Najib’s message delivered on last Saturday in some way, but I can assure him that the message was not meant for him and his party. So please don’t misquote Najib’s message, if one didn’t attend the meeting.”
“Nevertheless our Party President Datuk Dr. Sim Kui Hian had on several occasions stressed that Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) would always welcome UPP and its members to come back to SUPP and even to become the candidates for the seats allocated to SUPP in BN.”
