Free Lanterns for Lanterns of Unity Parade
In conjunction with the Mid Autumn Festival, 3000 free lanterns will be distributed to members of the public in Kuching to participate in the Lanterns of Unity Procession on Saturday 7th October 2017.
The event is organised by Sarawak United Peoples’ Party Pending, Batu Lintang and Kuching Branch Women Section together with Sara Urusharta Sdn. Bhd.
The objective of the event is to celebrate Kuching as the City of Unity, and to foster unity and understanding through the participation of cultural events amongst the various local communities. All members of the public are cordially invited to join in this free community event.
It is also a good opportunity for families to bring their children out and explore the city and mix with all other communities.
Members of the public can collect the free lanterns from the sponsors Sarawak Plaza, Tun Jugah, UTC, and Riverside Shopping Complex from 630 pm onwards, and the parade will commence at 730 pm. The route is about 1 km. The lanterns will be distributed on a first come first served basis.
Participants are encouraged to bring along their own lanterns and wear traditional costume to showcase our rich culture and diversity.
