New hawker stall centre for traders in Kpg Bumbok
MPP Chairman and ADUN Bt Kitang, YB Lo Khere Chiang is quite amused following a recent accusation of oppressing the Bidayuh hawker traders in Kpg Bumbok.
“Would MPP spend nearly RM1 million in upgrading the roads, drainage and building a new hawker stall centre complete with proper parking lots and access roads for Kpg Bumbok, if it was our intention to oppress and devastate them?”, he said.
MPP has had numerous dialogue sessions with traders in the village hall, at the new hawker centre itself, and even at the council level. Mutual agreements have been made between all parties on further efforts that will be taken in improving the new hawker centre, to accomodate for the needs and comfort of both traders and customers alike.
This will include electricity and water supplies, more internal lightings, sunshades for the new centre, signboard, and even a container storeroom for the traders to store all their valuables – just to name a few.
Majority of the traders have agreed to move into the new hawker stall centre. Acknowledging the fact that there are a handful of those who are still adamant in staying put at the old trading stalls, YB Lo Khere Chiang said that evicting the old roadside hawker stalls was a collective decision made by the council after taking into consideration the arguments heard from both sides of the traders themselves.
If only everybody would cooperate and trade in the newly-built hawker centre, there will be business for everybody.
