Residents advised not to plant trees along road shoulders
Residents of Taman Desa Wira, RPR Batu Kawah as well as housing estates along Jalan Arang here are urged not to plant trees along road shoulders so as to not obstruct the vision of road users.
Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) chairman Lo Khere Chiang said he has received many complaints regarding the planting of trees with big branches such as mango trees, coconuts, banana and papaya.
These may also risk damage to electricity and telephone lines.
Lo, who is also Batu Kitang assemblyman, warned all that MPP would take action against those who plant such plants at road shoulders; however the council is giving time to those involved to clear off such areas.
He pointed out that millions of ringgit had been spent by the Ministry of Local Government and Housing and MPP in collaboration with the Drainage and Irrigation Department (DID) to implement flood mitigation projects in several flood-prone areas in Padawan.
