CM: will carry out policies of his predecessor

Chief Minister Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg said the Chinese community’s achievements have provided employment and business opportunities for Sarawakians, and generated revenue for the state through taxes thus they recognised the contribution of their effort, said Chief Minister, Datuk Amar Abang Johari.

Reading the text of the chief minister at the 78thNational  DelegatesConference of the Federated Teochew Association of Malaysia here , Dr Sim who represented the CM, said that was why he adopted a multi racial, just and fair leadership in administering the state.

Abang Johari said he would continue carrying out the policies of the late former chief minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem, which includes the recognition of the Unified Examination Certificate, annual aid to Chinese schools, and rural development.

“As the new ‘captain’, I will continue the legacy of Adenan while looking ahead for a new economic model in order to achieve Sarawak’s aspiration to be the leading state in Malaysia by 2030.

“Sarawak has just formed its own oil and gas exploration company, Petros, to enable Sarawak to actively participate in the oil and gas industry in the state,” he said.

Abang Johari also touched on the Development Bank of Sarawak (DBOS), which he explained was set up as the state’s own financing source to accelerate economic growth in the state.

The bank’s main objective was to ensure that revenue generated from financing strategic projects would prosper the state economy and the people, he said.

He expressed his determination to develop the Light Rail Transit service in the state and I have made a commitment to spend RM1 billion from the state’s coffers to develop our internet infrastructure to power a digital economy.
