TS Wong Soon Kai on party unity
Former Deputy Chief Minister and former SUPP President, Tan Sri Wong Soon Kai, hoped that the party he led before would rise like the phoenix from the ashes and go back to its former glory.
Wong aged 87 and who remained alert, said he was happy to hear that the party was not de-registered and the two branches’ appeals were accepted by the ROS.
Speaking from his residence after handing over the Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Dr. Wong Soon Kai Challenge Trophy, Wong affirmed that the Triennial delegates conference must go on so that a proper committee would be formed for the party.
SUPP was divided after Sibu Chairman, Dato’ Sri Wong Soon Koh boycotted the TDC in 2011 and due to internal conflicts, a show cause letter was issued to SUPP this year and two branches, Bekenu and Piasau, were de-registered.
Wong when asked if there would be grievances due to many things said in the past, especially by Sibu group led by Sibu SUPP Chairman, Dato’ Sri Wong Soon Koh, he advised that the group should be wise enough to work together and come back to make amends.
He said the party should stay intact and worked to get back the support from the people and for the members’ sake.
“It is the only way for the party to survive and grow again. The party has not been de-registered, that is important and all members must work hard to make it to its past glory. I really hope so,” he said with a smile.
