Employees unreasonably dismissed or retrenched to complaint to Sarawak Labour Department

SUPP Public Complaints Bureau (PCB) Chief, Wilfred Yap was recently approached by three individuals seeking legal advice and assistance to help them in claiming for reasonable compensation after they were dismissed by their employer on 24 hour notice.

The matter has since been settled after the their employer agreed to fully compensate them.

SUPP PCB would like to notify employees facing unreasonable dismissal or retrenchment to lodge a complaint with the Sarawak Labour Department.

Any employee who feels that they are not fairly treated or if they feel their termination is not fairly done can personally go to the Sarawak Labour Department and where necessary, their case would be referred to the Labour Court by the Department. The verdict or decision of the Sarawak Labour Court can only be challenged in the High Court.

SUPP PCB would also like to advice employees not to suffer in silence but to stand up for their benefits and rights and in this respect,.
