CM on SUPP, SPDP and NCR land
Sarawak Chief Minister Tan Sri Adenan Satem told the Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) to close rank and stay united as their real enemy is DAP and not within themselves.
Speaking at a press conference in his office yesterday, Adenan said the internal bickering should stop and the appointment of a leader accepted by both groups should solve the problem. Once that problem is solved, he said the next election would allow them to be stronger to fight the enemies in the next election.
On the Sarawak Progressive Democratic Party (SPDP) crisis, Adenan said he was not aware of any move to topple the party’s president Tan Sri William
Mawan.
On the Sarawak government Land Code issue, Adenan said the Land Code will be amended during the November year-end State Legislative sitting.
He said this was to allow any native to buy NCR land from any native anywhere in Sarawak.
“The amendment to the land code would enable the natives to buy any NCR land in any place in the state because if we limit the sale and purchase of NCR
land only to members of natives in particular place or longhouse, the value of the land is almost valueless,” he added.
At present NCR land owners are prohibited under the state land code to sell their land to native buyers from different longhouses or areas.
