Public encouraged to report illegal dumping in Stampin Resettlement Scheme

Chairman of the Council, Lo Khere Chiang Today recently visited an illegal dumping site in Stampin Resettlement Scheme, hoping to bring more awareness among the public about the dangers of illegal dumping and the council is very concerned about the environment.

Illegal dumping sites are already an eye sore, yet at this particular site, the dumping was found to be in the drain. Not only the dumping is unsightly, the drainage system will be affected and it will cause other bigger issue of drainage blockages.

Citizens will suffer if the problem is not dealt with now. Residents could always call Trienekens’ hotline 082-612300 to collect their bulk waste at minimal fees.

To prevent further illegal dumping of waste, the council is working closely with Trienekens and the Public Works Depertment (JKR).

Illegal dumping will only caused massive health issues and environmental issues.

Under Sction 18(3) of the Local Authorities (Cleanliness By-Laws, 1999), those who were caught with illegal dumping would be fined not more that than RM1,000 for the first offence and RM2,000 for the second offence or a jail term of not more than six months or both.
