Eat Right to Play Right (ERTPR) programme

The Eat Right to Play Right (ERTPR) programme is a collaborative effort between Zurich Insurance, Takaful Malaysia Berhad and One Goal in Malaysia. Zurich has committed RM4 million from 2015 to 2018 (RM1 million per year) to address malnutrition – undernourishment and obesity– amongst Malaysian children from low-income communities.

Using football as a platform, the ERTPR programme promotes the importance of a healthy diet and balanced lifestyle.

Participating community coaches were invited from within identified communities in Padawan, and were then provided training in football and nutrition expertise by One Goal Malaysia and the experienced Coach Ibrahim Mohamed from Football Association of Malaysia, together with the team of nutritionists and child protection officers.

Batu Kitang State Assemblyman, Lo Khere Chiang said for the first time in One Goal Malaysia, and with the tremendous support from AADK Sarawak, the programme went on to guide the community coaches on the influence of drugs activities within Kampungs and also train the coaches in handling drug related situations that exploit young children in the community.

These trained coaches will then run weekly football cum nutrition sessions with children in their respective communities. These community coaches will be able to touch the lives of 10-15 children per coach through weekly training sessions and community-based activities.

The community coaches ran a Football Carnival on Sunday with a turn up of 60 children from SK Sacred Heart and Kampungs nearby.

Football is undoubtedly a powerful platform in gaining access to these communities, and engagement with children who participated in the programme has been incredibly positive.

Kelab Bola Sepak Premier Skills Kota Padawan went on a community visit on Monday to coaches in Kpg Betong (Landeh), Kpg Bumbok, Kpg Semeba and Taman Duranda Emas in Siburan. The coaches already have a long list of participating children within their community.

Zurich Insurance, Takaful Malaysia Berhad and One Goal Malaysia are giving our local communities a chance to learn proper engagement with the Kampung children through football and nutrition.
