SUPP Central Youth Secretary General Wilfred Yap is of the view that the deafening silence of DAP on the Hudud issue despite knowing that Hudud is not suitable for the present time and age and in view of the multi-racial composition of Malaysia is clearly irresponsible.

“Did they not demand the BN government to put everything into black and white when it comes to certain national policies or issues? So why out of a sudden we just have to trust them on this? DAP’s inconsistencies in handling various national issues is raising doubts and people are losing trust and patience with the party’s leadership”, questioned Yap in a statement.

“Rather than not showing up at the Dewan Rakyat and forfeit their rights to vote, why don’t the DAP MPs all show up and vote against it instead?”

During the last General Elections, DAP obtained the majority of their votes from the Chinese community on the representation made in Pakatan Rakyat’s common election manifesto and as such, DAP at the very least show accountability and responsibility to the Chinese community, should strongly condemn PAS for being recalcitrant to Pakatan Rakyat.

In fact, DAP should also pull out from the Pakatan Rakyat to show their sincerity to the Chinese community and also to show that DAP is not a “toothless tiger” or “Pak Turut” within Pakatan Rakyat.
