Decorating The Cat for Chinese New Year
Local Government Minister, Senator Datuk Dr. Sim Kui Hian praised the owner of Lot 10 Boutique Hotel, KK Wong for creating opportunities for Sarawakians in term of skill training.
Dr Sim said it is these businessman who wanted to ‘help’ Sarawakian as only Sarawakians can help themselves. He said KK Wong is a long term Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) member, Dr. Sim praised Wong for not abandoning the party in its worst crisis period but instead stayed on as a loyal member and not jump ship in bad times.
Dr. Sim also thanked Wong for sponsoring the clothing for the cat statue in conjunction with the Chinese New year. The Cat, he added, is a symbol of ‘happenings’ in Kuching city. Just some 10 days ago, people of all races and religions went to the Cat with flowers, candles and notes to pay tribute to the late Chief Minister, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Haji Adenan Satem.
Now, with the Chinese new year approaching, we put out the clothes for the Cat as a tourist attraction for visitors and locals to take photos. I must say Sarawak is a shining example of what racial harmony is all about. We are the teacher to other states but we must not take all these for granted. We work together to further maintain this unique closeness for the future generation,” said Dr. Sim.
Stating that the new Chief Minister, Datuk Amar Abang Johari has a vast experience in politics, Dr. Sim said SUPP is now looking forward to work with the CM to continue the agenda of Adenan. He said Sarawakians can also look for opportunity not only in the State but also Kuala Lumpur and China to upgrade themselves.
KK Wong who acquired the property two months ago said he is confidence of what the hotel will provide for the guests. He said his staff of over 40 are all local and the Hotel which is at Ban Hock Road is right in the centre of the city. The hotel also provided internship to students from West Malaysia for training.
