Balingian by election result

Barisan Nasional candidate, Yussibnosh Balo as expected won by a landslide majority against his opponent, Abdul Jalil today, more than the last election.
Yussibnosh who garnered a total of 8,194 votes won by a majority of 6,911 votes against PKR Abdul Jalil Bujang who managed to get 1,283 votes. There were 381 spoilt votes, with a total of 72.92% turnout.
The Balingian polls involves a straight fight between BN candidate, former Dalat district officer Yussibnosh Balo, 48, and businessman Abdul Jalil Bujang, 55, of PKR.
The seat was left vacant after former Chief Minister, Pehin Sri Taib Mahmud who was a State Assemblyman in Balingian resigned to be the governor of Sarawak.
In the 2011 state election, Abdul Taib retained the seat in a three-cornered tussle with a majority of 5,154 votes against Suriati Abdullah, of PKR, and Independent candidate Datuk Salleh Jafaruddin.
