SPCB press release: helping out with missing money
SUPP Public Complaints Bureau Chief, Wilfred Yap was recently approached an individual who allege that he had discovered that a sum of RM170,000.00 was missing from his late sister’s bank account with a local bank in 2014. The individual concerned is the administrator of the Estate of his late sister.
The individual informed SUPP PCB Chief Wilfred Yap that he had already lodge several police reports on the missing RM170,00.00 for the police to investigate. He also informed that the first police report was made by him in 2014 but till to date he has yet to receive any response and reply from the police on the outcome of their investigation.
The individual concerned also informed that he had also lodged a formal complaint with the branch of the local bank. In September 2015, the local bank by way of a letter informed him that his complaint was being investigated by their head office. However after more than a year, the local bank had yet to revert back to him on the outcome of their investigation.
The individual decided to seek help and advice from SUPP PCB Chief, Wilfred Yap after reading in the newspapers about SUPP PCB assisting the public on all type of problems the public are facing.
The individual wanted assistance from SUPP PCB to request information from the police on the outcome of investigation that the police and local bank have already taken and the subsequent action that the police and local bank will take. The individual also wanted assistance from SUPP PCB to help him monitor the handling of the case by the police and local bank.
SUPP PCB have now brought the matter up for the attention of the Police Commissioner of Sarawak and the local bank concerned and have requested for their thorough investigation on the complaint of the individual and also requested for a report on the outcome of their investigation. In the event of inaction, the matter will be brought up to the attention of the higher authorities, including the Inspector General of Police and Bank Negara Malaysia.
