Lo: fishing is a healthy past time

Batu Kitang state Assemblyman, Lo Khere Chiang urged kampung folks to engage more into healthy sports activities than being on the handphone all the time.

Speaking at the prawn fishing competition held in conjunction with the National Sports Day 2016, Lo said fishing is an art besides being a hobby. “It can be an exciting sport for some people who get thrills out of catching something,” he said to kampung folks who gathered at the river banks of Kampung Sandong. Fishing, he said, can be enjoyed by both the young and old.

Lo who is also the Chairman of Padawan Municipal council said fishing can also bring in tourism as what most of the nearby countries like Singaporeans gathered to charter boats for sea fishing. He also hoped that fishing can be gazetted to be a sporting event one day.

The National Sports Day is an important event where the government make efforts to encourage people to be involved in sports activities. This is, he said, one of the ways to foster greater relationship among the people and to adopt a healthy lifestyle.
