Drainage improvement project at Jalan Bulatan, Miri
Construction work on the RM400,000 drainage improvement project at Jalan Bulatan is expected to be completed by the end of September, said State Assemblyman for Piasau, Dato Sebastian Ting on Thursday afternoon.
Ting said the project, which started two months ago, involved the construction of a 42-metre long reinforced concrete (RC) drain with two culverts.
He added that due to the heavy traffic flow, the department is doing its best to deliver the project in the area according to plan, as he visited the site with Miri Mayor Adam Yii, Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID) Miri assistant engineer Christie Panting.
The project will serve an alternative drainage channel for the area, which is prone to flash flooding and speed up the process of flushing excess water in the area to a nearby storm drain.
