Kuching Intercultural Mooncake Festival
The 15th Kuching Intercultural Mooncake Festival is back at Carpenter Street from now until Sept 15 this year.
Many stalls are selling food, drinks and commodities every night from 7pm to 10.30pm during this period.
Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) chairman Lo Khere Chiang was among the guests on the first night (Friday night).
He was happy to accept the invitation from the organiser to visit and experience the ‘Sight, Sound and Taste’ concept of the event to foster unity.
“I support and am happy to see such events organised. This event shows Sarawakians accept each other — a sign of togetherness and unity.
“We see here at Carpenter Street a predominantly Chinese area transformed into a colourful bazaar with different races participating,” he said.
Among the activities were line dancing by a local dance association, dragon dance and lion dance.
Present were chairman of Kuching Chung Hua Primary School board of management, Wong Tiong Hook; and organising committee members Sim Kiang Chiok and Amy Tnay.
