Seeking more Federal funding for flood issue
President of SUPP Senator Datuk Dr. Sim Kui Hian went to the ground with Bakrie bin Zaini, Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Local Government, State assemblyman for Senadin, Datuk Lee Kim Shin, State Assemblyman for Piasau Sebastian Ting, State Assemblyman for Meradong Datuk Ding Kuong Hiing, Dato Sri Huang, State Assemblyman for Repok as well as Milton Foo Tiang Wee, Michael Tiang Ming Tee and Peter Pau Kiu Sung.
They had a briefing at The Department of Irrigation and Drainage Sarawak (DID) with Acting Director Tuan Chok Moi Soon and Mr. Sim Kok Kee Technical Advisor as well as other senior DID staff about various issues including flash flood.
There is a shortage of funding from Federal as under the 10th Malaysia Plan the funding was RM900 million while this year is only RM600 million. They will therefore ask for more funding from the Federal government for the flood and river overflow issues.
