Plan to amend Municipal Council (MPP) laws
The Ministry of Local Government Senator Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian has proposed to amend the laws of Municipal Council (MPP) to enable it to employ traffic wardens in the future.
Dr Som said the ministry is concerned about traffic congestion in the council’s area of jurisdiction, especially Batu Kawa.
The amendment,he said would enable the council to put traffic wardens in congested areas to assist traffic police.
Padawan police chief Superintendent Choo Yin Kok, welcomed the good news as he is short of manpower.
Also present was MPP chairman cum Batu Kitang assemblyman Lo Khere Chiang and Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Batu Kawa chairman.
