SUPP president Senator Dr Sim Kui Hian said the performance of the party in the Sarawak state election was “a reflection of people’s power and Team Adenan”. He thanked voters for backing SUPP, which won seven of 13 seats it contested.
Dr Sim won Batu Kawah with a majority of 2,085 votes to regain the Chinese seat for BN, beating DAP incumbent Christina Chiew and independent Liu Thian Leong.
“Thanks to the people of Batu Kawah, I will never let you down and thanks to the Sarawak people for supporting the six winning candidates and those who lost,” he said.
SUPP also took back Piasau, Repok, Meradong and new seat Batu Kitang to help BN win a total of seven Chinese seats, and retained mixed seat Senadin and Dayak constituency Simanggang.
