CM – Dr Sim will be a Minister if elected

Throwing his biggest support behind Senator Datuk Dr. Sim Kui Hian, Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem called to the people not to vote Batu Kawah Independent candidate as they are opportunists who waited to be bought or stood as Independent when they were not picked by their party to stand.

Naming Liu Thian Leong who stood as an Independent candidate in Batu Kawa in a three corner fight against Sarawak United Peoples’ party (SUPP) President, Dr. Sim and Democratic Action party (DAP), Christina Chiew, the Chief Minister said Liu belonged to the category of sulk when not picked.

Adenan lamented that Liu claimed to be a champion for the people but it was all hot air as an Independent could not do much.

In his speech at the Kuching City Mall with the SUPP candidates at the ceremah on Friday night, Adenan called to the people to choose the six SUPP candidates in Kuching, Dr. Sim, Lo Khere Chiang(Batu Kitang), Wilfred Yap (Sentosa), Milton Foo (Pending), Peter Pau (Padungan) and Sih Hua Tong (Batu Lintang), as they belonged to Adenan’s team.

He let it out that if Dr. Sim were to win the election; he will be a minister like his father, the late Tan Sri Datuk Amar Sim Kheng Hong who was also the Deputy Chief Minister.

Emphasizing many times throughout his speech that he is Adenan Satem and not White hair (referring to Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud), Adenan said he did not want a government without Chinese representative. He said therefore, they should vote in the 6 SUPP candidates in Kuching. Even, he added, if they do not some of them, the voters could think of him and vote them in.

On his good relationship with the governor he said he (TYT) would not tell him to run his job but will give him advice if asked.

Stating that he wanted a big mandate for the coming election, Adenan said he would be able to tell Putrajaya to listen to him as he represents Sarawak. He said with a bigger mandate, he wants Sarawak autonomy back. “II want those powers back in Sarawak as it was stated in the Malaysia Agreement 1963,” he said to shouts of approval from the audiences.

Adenan said as long as they are strong, they can govern Sarawak themselves as he did not want UMNO or the Malayan based parties to come in.  When DAP, he added, accused him of being friendly with the Prime Minister, Dato’ Seri Najib Razak, Adenan pointed out that Najib did not come in empty handed or with a smile but instead bring in funds and big project like the Borneo Highway.

He reminded the voters that he has lessen their burden and assisted in ways he could by abolishing the toll, erasing the lain-lain in the government forms for Dayaks, recognizing UEC, giving aids to the Chinese schools, reducing electricity among others. He also told off those who called Chinese ‘pendatang” as the Chinese has grew up, start a family, live and passed on in Sarawak.

Earlier on Adenan sang two songs to the delights of the audiences.

Over 2,000 crowd turned up at the ceremah fill with cheers, songs and video clips.
