Mobile service team assists residents with welfare applications

Sarawak Deputy Minister for Tourism and Piasau assemblyman Datuk Sebastian Ting attended a mobile service programme organised by the SUPP Piasau Branch service team at Miri Old Street, where he joined the team in assisting members of the public seeking advice and help on welfare related matters.

He said the mobile service initiative aims to reach out directly to communities, stay connected with the people, and assist residents in applying for various welfare aid programmes, ensuring that government assistance and policies benefit more eligible groups.

He noted that the Sarawak Government has introduced a number of people centric initiatives in recent years, including the Kenyalang Gold Card, the Senior Citizen Health Benefit Scheme, and the Free Tertiary Education Policy, to help ease the financial burden on the people.

“Our mobile service team continues to visit communities to assist residents with applications for the Kenyalang Gold Card, the Senior Citizen Health Benefit Scheme, Sarawak Digital ID registration, and matters related to the SPay Global platform,” he said.

Ting stressed that such mobile services effectively bring government services closer to the people, particularly benefiting senior citizens and those who are unfamiliar with online processes, allowing them to receive assistance and consultation conveniently within their communities.

“We hope that through these mobile services, our service team can stay closer to the community, making it easier for those in need to reach us, raise their concerns, and receive timely assistance,” he added.
