Eric Tay pledges continued support for bedridden senior and vulnerable residents
MBKS councillor Eric Tay Tze Kok has pledged continued assistance for an 82 year old bedridden woman from KMC Flat who is expected to be discharged from Sarawak General Hospital soon.
Tay said his team stepped in after learning that the woman’s family lacked the necessary equipment to care for her at home.
“As the elderly woman is bedridden and at risk of developing pressure sores, we immediately arranged for a ripple mattress to provide greater comfort and improve her recovery at home,” he said.
The ripple mattress was sponsored by HNC Medical Supplies, helping to ease the family’s financial burden.
Tay said caring for senior citizens and vulnerable groups should be demonstrated through meaningful action and continuous commitment rather than words alone.
“We will continue monitoring the case and assist the family in applying for welfare aid if needed,” he said.
He added that his team has consistently carried out welfare initiatives in the Padungan area, including providing mobility aids, distributing essential supplies and meals, and helping residents access welfare assistance.
Tay said the team also works closely with community leaders and relevant agencies to identify residents in need and ensure they receive timely support.
“Community service is not a one time effort but a long term commitment. We will continue engaging with residents and working with various stakeholders to provide practical assistance and build a more caring and inclusive community,” he said.
