Wilfred Yap Congratulates New Cabinet, Urges Focus on Cost of Living, Reforms and Delivery
Kota Sentosa Assemblyman Wilfred Yap has congratulated all ministers and deputy ministers entrusted with new or expanded responsibilities following the Cabinet reshuffle announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
In a press statement, Wilfred Yap said he wished the newly appointed Cabinet members well in carrying out their duties in service to the nation.
However, he stressed that a Cabinet reshuffle should not be seen as an end in itself, but must be measured by the federal government’s ability to deliver on the reform agenda promised to the rakyat.
He pointed out that Malaysians continue to face pressing challenges, particularly the rising cost of living, which is placing significant pressure on households, especially low and middle income families. Issues such as food prices, utilities, transportation costs and the impact of subsidy rationalisation, he said, require immediate and decisive action through targeted and well communicated policies.
Yap also highlighted the need to strengthen economic confidence and job security, noting that small and medium enterprises, traders and workers require clearer policy direction, reduced bureaucratic hurdles and consistent support to sustain growth, create quality employment and attract long term investment.
He added that the public expects higher standards of governance and integrity, including firm action against corruption, greater transparency in public procurement, consistency in policy decisions and clear accountability within ministries. Any form of double standards or selective enforcement, whether real or perceived, would only erode public trust.
Improving public service delivery must also be a priority, he said, citing delays, overlapping responsibilities and weak coordination among agencies that continue to affect services such as education, healthcare, housing and public infrastructure.
Yap further emphasised the importance of effective communication and policy clarity, stating that policies affecting livelihoods must be clearly explained, consistently implemented and refined based on public feedback.
