Mindray AED Donated to UNIFOR Charitable Trust Complex and Malaysia Red Crescent Sarawak (Kuching Branch)
Medikhub has generously donated two Mindray Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) one each to the UNIFOR Charitable Trust (#UNIFORCT) Complex and the Malaysia Red Crescent Sarawak (Kuching Branch).
Deputy Premier, Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian said as Sarawak unfortunately joins other parts of the world in facing heart disease as the leading health burden, the need for accessible AEDs has become increasingly urgent. Despite being surrounded by the natural beauty of Borneo, we are not spared from the rising number of sudden cardiac incidents including cases where individuals collapse during sports or in public spaces.
He said AEDs play a critical role in saving lives during such emergencies. However, public awareness and training in their use are essential to maximise their impact.
Looking ahead, he added that the upcoming amendments to the Sarawak Building Ordinance are expected to make AED installation mandatory in public places, alongside requirements such as the Green Building Index and updated Bomba safety standards.
