YB Dato Ir Lo Khere Chiang Addresses the Importance of Antidrug Education at the Antidrug Digital Infohunt in Kampung Semeba, Kuching
State Assemblyman, Dato Ir Lo Khere Chiang today emphasized the critical role of education and community involvement in the ongoing fight against drug abuse during his speech at the Antidrug Digital Infohunt, co-organized by Agensi Antidadah Kebangsaan (AADK) Kuching and Skuad Antidadah Kuching.
The event attracted 40 youths participation from Kampung Semeba, Kampung Sudat, Kampung Tematu and Kampung Bumbok, highlighted the importance of leveraging digital tools to raise awareness about the dangers of drug addiction.
Lo expressed deep appreciation for the efforts of AADK and Skuad Antidadah Kuching, acknowledging the need for continued collaboration between government agencies, NGOs, and the public to combat drug-related issues.
“Drug addiction is a challenge that touches every corner of our society, threatening not only individuals but entire families and communities. Prevention is better than cure, and education is our most powerful weapon in this fight,” he said.
The Antidrug Digital Infohunt serves as an innovative platform to engage participants in learning about drug prevention through interactive digital activities.
Lo commended the event as a creative approach to spreading awareness, noting that such initiatives extend the message beyond just those present at the event to reach online communities as well.
He also emphasized that prevention is a shared responsibility, calling on participants to take the knowledge they gain back to their families and communities. “You are the ambassadors of this message,” he urged, highlighting the importance of community-led efforts in creating a drug-free environment.
The event also saw praise for Skuad Antidadah Kuching’s continued support in rural areas, with Lo noting that “success in our mission depends on collaboration between the public, government agencies, and non-governmental organizations.”
Lo also encouraged members of the public who are passionate about supporting the fight against drug abuse to volunteer with the movement. Those interested in becoming Antidadah Volunteers are welcome to register on the Skuad Antidadah website at skuad.aadk.gov.my
Encouraging participants to view the event as more than just a competition, but as a starting point for ongoing efforts to fight drug abuse, stressing that “together, he beloved, we can make a difference, one conversation, one shared experience, and one community at a time.”
