Father’s Day colouring competition promotes gratitude and family values among students

KUCHING: Following the successful Anti Bullying Awareness Programme at SK Song Kheng Hai, Team Dynamic Kuching returned to the school to organise a Father’s Day Colouring Competition aimed at promoting gratitude, family values, and appreciation for fathers among students.

Team Dynamic Kuching chairman and Kuching South City councillor, Eric Tay Tze Kok, said the programme provided students with a meaningful platform to express their creativity while reflecting on the important role fathers play in their lives.

He said Father’s Day is more than a celebration, as it serves as an opportunity to remind children to appreciate their parents and recognise the love and sacrifices made for them.
“While mothers deserve special recognition for bringing children into this world and making tremendous sacrifices, fathers are equally important in the family. They play a vital role in the development and upbringing of their children.

“Beyond providing for the family, fathers serve as role models whose actions, values, and behaviour can leave a lasting impact on their children’s character and outlook on life,” he said.

Tay noted that many fathers work tirelessly and make numerous sacrifices to ensure a better future for their families. Although they may not always openly express their emotions, their love is often demonstrated through their dedication, commitment, and willingness to prioritise their family’s needs.

He added that responsible and caring fathers help instil important values such as responsibility, discipline, perseverance, and resilience in their children while guiding them towards making positive life choices.

Through the colouring competition, Tay hoped students would gain a deeper appreciation of their fathers’ contributions and learn the importance of expressing gratitude towards their parents.

He emphasised that while academic excellence remains important, character development and strong family values are equally essential in shaping responsible and compassionate future generations.
“Activities like this help strengthen family bonds while encouraging positive values among students,” he said.

Looking ahead, Tay said Team Dynamic Kuching would continue working closely with schools, parents, and community stakeholders to organise more educational and community based initiatives that support the holistic development of children and youth.

“We hope to continue creating opportunities for students to learn, grow, and develop positive values. By nurturing gratitude, respect, compassion, and responsibility, we can help shape a generation that will contribute meaningfully to society,” he said.
