UNIFOR and Minor Rural Project in Sentosa
State Assemblyman for Kota Sentosa, Wilfred Yap, today presented several community development grants under the Unit for Other Religions (UNIFOR) and the Minor Rural Project (MRP) fund during the Christmas event organised by SJK Sam Hap Hin.
Wilfred Yap presented RM140,000 UNIFOR Grant to SJK Sam Hap Hin which was received by School Board Chairman Stephen Kong for repair and upgrading of the school’s parking area, procurement of furniture and electrical equipment, purchase of ICT tools to enhance digital learning, and termite prevention works to protect school facilities. RM300,000 UNIFOR Grant was to Sacred Heart Church, Kota Sentosa.
Yap emphasised that strong educational infrastructure is essential to nurturing the next generation, noting that UNIFOR support demonstrates the State Government’s consistent commitment to assisting mission and vernacular schools regardless of background.
A second cheque for RM300,000 was presented to Father Felix Au of Sacred Heart Church for the construction of a new Bell Tower, an important feature symbolising unity, faith, and community identity.RM10,000 MRP Grant to the Boys’ Brigade
To further support youth development in Kota Sentosa, Yap also handed over an MRP grant of RM10,000 to Archbishop Simon Poh for the activities and programmes of the Boys’ Brigade, recognising its positive contributions towards discipline, character building, and community service.
Yap also thanked UNIFOR, the school, church leaders, teachers, parents, and community members for their dedication in nurturing young Sarawakians and fostering unity in Kota Sentosa.
The ceremony concluded with Christmas performances by students, symbolising the spirit of togetherness that defines Sarawak’s multicultural society.
