SUPP Public Complaints Bureau Chief Wilfred Yap hoped that the government will plan the eventual transition from pandemic to endic and strike a right balance between preventing not only the severe health consequences inflicted by Covid-19 but also that which comes from a severe contraction of economic activities.
He said with the high rate of covid-19 vaccination in Sarawak, the time is appropriate for the Sarawak Government to prepare transparently with a coordinated plan after consultation with all stakeholders in deciding how to restart our economic engine and help communities get back on the road to recovery while minimising the risk of covid-19 spread.
“The Government needs to plan ahead the bold move to allow business to return to normalcy by managing the situation through ensuring reasonable and adequate healthcare facilities and also continuing to take a serious approach to strict standard operating procedure (SOP) compliance and enforcement. Also Sarawak GPS Government must put continuous risk management at the core of its return to normalcy initiatives and objectives. The Government must share and publish its findings to all stakeholders and also provide proof that they are effectively monitoring and resolving the discovered risk to ensure public confidence which is essential in our return to economic normalcy and vitality,” he said.
During a recent “turun padang” visit to Kota Sentosa Batu Tujuh area, residents complained about a burst main water pipe near the intersection of Jalan Liu Shan Bang and Jalan Bau causing great inconveniences to them. Following the request for assistance received, the complaint was immediately communicated to the Kuching Water Board and the burst main water pipe was repaired.
Yap said together with community leaders and SUPP Kota Sentosa members will always continue to serve as the eyes and ears of the communities living in Kota Sentosa to ensure that problems are always communicated to the relevant authorities for their immediate action for rectification.
SUPP Public Complaints Bureau is always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone facing problems or who come across problems of public interest but does not know how to deal with it.
