SUPP Women on Teras

SUPP woman central chief, Tnay Li Ping said former SUPP Sibu branch chairman Datuk Seri Wong Soon Koh announced his resignation from the party to join a new party Parti Tenaga Rakyat Sarawak (TERAS) on Wednesday after the DUN sitting has caused a lot of pain and unhappiness for Supp woman wing.

She said SUPP Central Women Section also condemns such act of betrayal citing that what Wong has done is a serious violation against party discipline as well as a severe offence against the basic principles of Barisan Nasional spirits.

Tnay said SUPP Central Women Section is urging Chief Minister Tan Sri Datuk Amar Haji Adenan Satem to be highly prudent by taking into account the devastating consequences it may lead to if TERAS was to be accepted into the BN family as a component party where a decision can be made only after there is a consensus reached between all BN component parties, namely SUPP, SPDP and PRS.

She added that SUPP Central Women Section wishes to emphasize on the fact that all the state and parliamentary seats as well as official posts are intangible assets of the party. They belong to SUPP and are by all means not their personal assets. Wong Soon Koh contested and was elected as a state assemblyman under SUPP’s ticket, which eventually led to his official posts as state cabinet minister. It has shown just how selfish Wong Soon Koh is when he refused to vacate his positions as Bawang Assan state assemblymen and state cabinet minister. His selfish act can be seen by his absence in all the party’s CWC and CC meetings in the last two years. Hence, like SPDP Women’s Wing, SUPP Central Women section is equally doubtful if a party leader who fled his party to avoid dealing with party problems is capable of leading a new party.

On another hand, Tnay pointed out that this is the most opportune moment to take SUPP to a greater height since the legitimacy of the party’s central leadership and its two branches is now confirmed by ROS. “I firmly believe that party’s coming TDC, which is scheduled to be held in August, will give birth to a new and more dynamic leadership, one that can lead SUPP to a greater height! Therefore, I am pleading to all comrades and CC members to perform your duty in this coming TDC so that the new central leadership can continue to lead the party in facing future challenges.”
