SUPP strong objection against political dominance
SUPP, in a recent statement, have always maintained a strong objection against any one political party becoming dominant in Sarawak and in the rest of the country.
We have always objected to any political party that is dominant based on single-ethnicity concept.
For SUPP it is vital that the regime in charge of our multi-racial, multi-religious, multi-cultural and multi-lingual society be able to share the government administration with all races so as to maintain and sustain racial unity.
This harmony will be jeopardised by the formation of a one-domination party system or domination based on ethnicity and race.
SUPP have always maintained this stance since the party was formed and our party have always practiced multiracial composition in our set up and in the way we operate on the ground.
That is why in the latest issue of the 9 BN direct candidates who had appllied to join Parti Pesaka Bumiputra Bersatu (PBB) we in SUPP advices extreme caution in how PBB is proceeding with the matter.
SUPP is keeping a vigilant eye on this development as it will have far-reaching impact on Sarawak and its future.
The final decision by PBB on this matter will create a political trend.
SUPP had made it very clear from the start even before the state elections that we do not agree to the implementation of the BN direct candidate method.
The situation now is that PBB is at a stage to become the dominant political party.
PBB already have 40 ADUNs or state assembly YBs and if it accepts the nine direct BN YBs then PBB will control 49 of the 82 state seats.
SUPP feels that the 9 BN direct YBs should not be accepted into the PBB. And they should return to their respective original parties of SUPP and SPDP.
The BN must divide the seats including the new ones equally among the four BN component parties in the context of fair power sharing.
SUPP wants to see the political power of the four BN components in Sarawak be balanced.
It is not healthy to have one party allowed to hold a big disparity against the others.
