Press Statement by Michael Tiang

In response to the recent Pakatan Harapan president council lineup without Sarawak DAP representatives, Michael Tiang, a SUPP Central Working Committee member calls upon Chong Chieng Jen and Sarawak DAP to sever their ties with Malayan DAP and quit Pakatan Harapan.

On this point, Tiang said he sympathies with Abdul Aziz Isa, the special assistant to Sarawak DAP Chairman Chong Chieng Jen, for condemning the lineup.

Michael Tiang said Chong Chieng Jen should wake up as he should realise by now that DAP Sarawak were never been considered as part of their Malayan Pakatan Harapan. There is no hope for them in the Malayan based political parties. Chong should dissolve Sarawak DAP and form Sarawak based Party to fight for the rights and interests of Sarawak.

Tiang pointed out  that in every general elections, these  Malayan DAP leaders would always tell Sarawakians that “Change “shall begin from Sarawak. However, when it comes to power sharing, they always forget about Sarawakians.

Dr. Mahathir, their Adviser, in his recent statement to the press even went to say that even if Pakatan Harapan were to form the next Government, DAP leader will have no chance to be Prime Minister or Deputy Prime Minister, despite being the largest component party in Pakatan Harapan.

Tiang said, in GE13, DAP won all Chinese majority seats. It is undeniable fact that DAP drew their strengths from the Chinese community. In the last GE, they even proclaimed that Lim Kit Siang would be the DPM if Pakatan Rakyat won. However, this round when the issue of potential candidates for Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister being brought up in Pakatan Harapan, DAP just kept quiet and be subservient. It must be pointed out that Chong always accused SUPP for being submissive to UMNO. Tiang challenged Chong to say “NO” to Pakatan Harapan and Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia.

Tiang concluded that Chong had shattered the dreams and hopes of their members and supporters who had given their strong mandate to DAP in the last General Election.
