Tan Kai on respect for the National Anthem
SUPP Youth Chairman, Tan Kai said the National Anthem represents the soul of a nation. Olympic athletes shed tears when their country flags were raised with their respective national anthem played during prize giving ceremonies. Every nation wishes their citizen well but the tears of athletes represent the respect and love for their country.
He said those who felt playing of the national anthem in cinema as disgraceful and ridiculous are those who do not love their country. They do not wish to see a developing and stronger nation in both economic and competing power as this would enhance the political support for the ruling coalition and they would lose the opportunity of criticizing the government.
People look forward to a two-party system but this has to be build on a fair and competing environment instead of those defaming, recrimination which cause people to lose confidence on the government, bringing suspicion on nation agenda, insult the nation flag and anthem, discouraging unity, all of which affect the development of our beloved country.
He was happy to see that the DAP YB was willing to apologize. “Although he had apologized, the damaged has been done. He hoped that politicians have to be cautious on what they say.
SUPP Youth Central support the Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Haji Adenan who does not accept hateful and abusive speech in Sarawak. Speeches should encourage patriotism and support the transformation plan introduced by the Prime Minister Datuk Sri Najib for a better nation.
Yesterday, BN Youths from the PBB, SPDP, PRS and SUPP lodged a police report on the DAP YB who made a rude comment on the national Anthem.
