SUPP calls for calm during hung parliament situation
The results of the recently concluded GE 15 have plunged Malaysia into a situation unprecedented that is a hung parliament with no coalition having a simple majority, said Sarawak United people’s party publicity and Information chief, Adam Yii.
Yii said it is most unfortunate that the results also show a nation in greater polarisation and severely divided. And no government can be formed after 3 days because none of the coalitions can command a simple majority to form the federal government.
“Since then, SUPP leaders, including SUPP party president, have received messages over the proposed potential composition of a coalition government. SUPP wishes to thank all the concerned Sarawakians for their messages and will bring their concerns, suggestions and thoughts to GPS top leadership for discussion. SUPP as a multiracial party since 1959 has always maintained an openness to diversity and multi-culturalism as the source of our strength. We must promote the spirit of acceptance and convergence of new ideas among our people. Sarawak’s future depends on this social foundation,” he added.
He said SUPP urges Sarawakians to maintain calm and patience in this uncertain and challenging time and that the interests and well-being of Sarawak will always be the utmost concern and priority of SUPP.
