SHOAW’s supremacy proven in La Salle Brothers Memorial Cup 7s
KUCHING: The rugby teams of SMK Agama Sheikh Haji Othman Abdul Wahab (SHOAW) proved their supremacy when the La Salle Brothers Memorial Cup 7s U16 tournament held at Song Kheng Hai Field last Saturday saw both its seniors (U16) and juniors (U15) locked horns in the Cup final.
Their duel on a slightly wet pitch saw the seniors whitewashed the juniors 52-0 to clinch the Cup Championship. The seniors play was all the more enlivened, with the appearance of two NRDP Malaysia U16 Selection Squad in the persons of Saiful Daniel Mohd Khairi

The La Salle Brothers Memorial 7s was jointly organised by Sarawak Rugby Union (SRU) and Kuching Football Rugby Club (KRFC), to replace the Brother Columba Memorial Cup 7s in remembrance of the legendary Brothers Charles, Henry, Hilary, Hyacinth, Mark, John, Albinus, Adrian and Columba who were highly hailed as significant promoters of rugby during the four decades of 1950s to 1980s.
Minister of Local Government and Housing Datuk Professor Dr Sim Kui HIan gave away the main prizes, witnessed by SRU President Richard Song Swee Jin, SRU Honorary Secretary Abdul Ghafar Arshad, SRU Treasurer Lawrence Tan, KRFC President Yusop Shah Mokhsen, Sarawak Sports Corporation (SSC) Development Division Manager Ahmad Rodzi Hashim who represented SSC CEO Dr Ong Kong Swee.
Several rugby veterans also witness the matches namely Titus Chuo, Richard Labong, Philip Aso, Thomas Jacques, Dr Herman Ritom, Wan Adruce, Ehsan Berman, and Mohd Syed Dato Mokhsen.
Keen rugby supporters Alex Chung, Bob Chew and Simon Chin were also seen at the game.
