World Psoriasis Day 2016.
People with psoriasis face immense barriers in society due to public misconceptions of the disease, said Senator Datuk Dr Sim Kui hian yesterday at the Sarawak General Hospital clinical research centre in conjunction with World Psoriasis Day 2016.
Dr Sim who is also Minister for Local government said the theme this year is ‘breaking barriersfor people with psoriasis’ as this misconception include health care system, at work, in school and social relations.
This will lead to missed opportunity in life which could be prevented.
The International Federation of Psoriasis Association (IFPA) public awareness message for 2016 is that psoriasis can be psychologically devastating of which many experience prejudice, stigmatization and discrimination.
By breaking barriers, he added that IFPA aims to raise public and patients awareness through knowledge and understanding of psoriasis to improve life quality.
