Such publicity has caused grave concern amongst the SUPP party members and its supporters.\u00a0 SUPP\u2019s response is as follows:-<\/p>\n<p>The attendance of YB Datuk Amar Abang Johari in the UPP Conference would send confusing and wrong political signals to the people of Sarawak.\u00a0 SUPP deeply regrets and is unhappy about the attendance by YB Datuk Amar Abang Johari in the UPP 1st\u00a0General Meeting held on 11th\u00a0January 11, 2015.<\/p>\n<p>In 1970, SUPP and PBB formed the Coalition Government which had brought peace, political stability, economic development and prosperity to Sarawak.\u00a0 The most remarkable achievement was the signing of the Sri Aman Peace Agreement \u00a0in 1973, ending years of armed conflicts in Sarawak.<\/p>\n<p>In 1974, under the leadership of the late Prime Minister Tun Abdul Razak, BN was formed. SUPP and PBB became its component parties since then.<\/p>\n<p>In 1987, 28 members of the State Assemblymen suddenly stage a coup d\u2019\u00e9tat in the Ming Court Hotel in Kuala Lumpur.\u00a0 SUPP fully supported the then leadership of PBB and BN successfully won the snap State Election. BN State Government remains in force since then.<\/p>\n<p>The present leadership of SUPP and PBB must treasure, appreciate and remember the historically close working relationship between SUPP and PBB.<\/p>\n<p>Many of the present leaders of UPP were either party members or leaders of SUPP.\u00a0 However, many were sacked (including Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh) from SUPP for serious breaches of SUPP&#8217;s party disciplines.<\/p>\n<p>SUPP reiterates that under the BN constitution, any admission of a new political party into BN must be unanimously approved and agreed upon by all BN component parties.
