{"id":49001,"date":"2026-08-13T12:32:55","date_gmt":"2026-08-13T04:32:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.suppnewsportal.com\/main\/?p=49001"},"modified":"2026-08-28T12:48:08","modified_gmt":"2026-08-28T04:48:08","slug":"padawan-joins-who-global-network-for-age-friendly-cities","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.suppnewsportal.com\/main\/?p=49001","title":{"rendered":"Padawan joins WHO global network for age-friendly cities"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) has reaffirmed its commitment to developing a sustainable, inclusive and liveable community following its official membership in the World Health Organization (WHO) Global Network for Age-friendly Cities and Communities (AFCC).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>MPP Chairman Cr Tan Kai said MPP officially joined the network in February this year as part of efforts to prepare Sarawak for an ageing population by 2028.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cHere in Padawan, the age-friendly approach reflects MPP\u2019s commitment to its vision of building a sustainable, inclusive and liveable Padawan, where people of all ages are included and no one is left behind,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tan Kai said the initiative was also in line with the Sarawak Post COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030, particularly its Social Inclusivity pillar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said MPP welcomed a WHO delegation led by WHO Representative to Brunei Darussalam, Malaysia and Singapore, Dr Rabindra Abeyasinghe, today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the session, Abeyasinghe handed over the official letter confirming MPP\u2019s membership in the WHO Global Network for Age-friendly Cities and Communities to Tan Kai.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tan Kai said the AFCC initiative represented MPP\u2019s latest commitment to fostering a sustainable, inclusive and healthy community, building on its previous efforts under the Green City Action Plan and Child-Friendly Cities Initiative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.suppnewsportal.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Tan_Kai_014.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"http:\/\/www.suppnewsportal.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Tan_Kai_014-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-49030\" style=\"aspect-ratio:1.499267935578331;width:755px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.suppnewsportal.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Tan_Kai_014-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.suppnewsportal.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Tan_Kai_014-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.suppnewsportal.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Tan_Kai_014-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.suppnewsportal.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Tan_Kai_014.jpg 1080w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) has reaffirmed its commitment to developing a sustainable, inclusive and liveable community following its official membership in the World Health Organization (WHO) Global Network for Age-friendly Cities and Communities (AFCC).
