DAP has 40 MPs in Parliament and holds ministerial and deputy ministerial posts in the federal government.

“Since it is already part of the government, it should first tell the people how many reform promises it has fulfilled, and what it has truly checked and balanced in Putrajaya,” SUPP Kuching branch youth said in a statement.

It stated that DAP could not present itself as a watchdog in Sarawak while remaining selective on sensitive federal issues especially on SST adjustments, the expansion of the service tax scope, e-invoicing implementation and rising compliance costs had caused concern among small businesses and middle-income families.

“If DAP truly cares about the people’s burden, it should explain what it has done at the federal level to seek safeguards and relief measures.

“Check and balance must begin with the government one is part of, not only with political opponents,” it added saying that DAP remained rooted in Malayan politics, and its political priorities did not necessarily reflect Sarawak’s interests.

DAP’s setbacks in Sabah, Johor and Negeri Sembilan showed that voters were reassessing its performance.

“This is not accidental. It is a warning from the people.

“Voters have seen that DAP speaks loudly about reform when outside government, but becomes quiet when in power. People are tired of empty talk without real results,” it said.

Sarawakians had not forgotten Lim Guan Eng’s previous claim that Sarawak would go bankrupt and Sarawak did not go bankrupt. Instead, Sarawak has maintained sound finances, expanded its revenue base, implemented major infrastructure projects and secured greater development autonomy.

“Sarawakians still remember who once talked down Sarawak. How can such a party now ask Sarawakians to believe that it is here to build Sarawak?” it pointed out.

The section calls on DAP’s call for check and balance must also apply to itself, its own leaders and the federal government of which it is part.

“People want promises to be fulfilled, not excuses after positions have changed,” the youth wing said stressing that GPS was not afraid of scrutiny or criticism, as long as it was factual, constructive and beneficial to the people.

It also noted that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim had repeatedly praised Sarawak’s development direction and the leadership of Abang Johari.

“If even the top leadership of Pakatan Harapan recognises GPS’ performance, DAP’s attempt to package itself as the opposition in Sarawak is clearly contradictory.

“The people will judge every party, and they will remember who once talked down Sarawak and who truly stood with Sarawak,” it said.

“If DAP is loud in Sarawak but quiet in Putrajaya, that is not check and balance.
