SUPP Youth Central Secretary General Wilfred Yap is amused and perplexed by Sarawak DAP Chairman YB Chong Chieng Jen\u2019s recent statement who likens leaders of political parties who harp on racial issues as \u201cdinosaur politicians\u201d who belong in the museum and that SUPP had lost the legitimacy of representing the Chinese Community in light of his further statement that political parties fighting for or representing a single race was outdated as the country was multiracial.<\/p>\n
The statement is also confusing considering the fact that SUPP lost badly to Sarawak DAP during the last State and Federal Elections due to Peninsular imported racially charged anti-establishment campaign, where Sarawak Chinese voters decided to follow onto Semenanjung Chinese Chauvinism brought into the land of the hornbill via Sarawak DAP.<\/p>\n
SUPP Youth would like to reiterate that SUPP being a multiracial party has, since day one of its formation, always fought for the rights of all Sarawakian regardless of their race or religion and was instrumental in the formulation of Barisan Nasional\u2019s message of national unity and inclusiveness.<\/p>\n
SUPP also played a part in the Government Transformation Road Map launched on the 28th January 2010 by our current Prime Minister, YAB Dato Seri Najib Tun Razak where he outlined the Government\u2019s plans and commitment to its \u201cPeople first, Performance Now\u201d Concept. Under this Road Map, the Barisan Nasional Government began the transformation process in strengthening the efficiency of its delivery system to better serve the needs of the rakyat. The rakyat can now see and experience the results of the improvement of government services to better serve the needs of the rakyat, thanks in part to SUPP.<\/p>\n
To SUPP Youth, our diversity have always been our nation\u2019s greatest strength and the Barisan Nasional Government\u2019s \u201cOne Malaysia\u201d agenda is important to establish a united Malaysian Nation and a Malaysian Society that is just, democratic, liberal, progressive and underlines the value of acceptance amongst its multi-racial people where one race embraces the uniqueness of other races so that we may live with mutual respect for each other as a nation.<\/p>\n
As such, SUPP Youth Secretary General Wilfred Yap hopes that the people of Sarawak regardless of ethnic and religious lines will not be emotional but be rational in their thinking and approach and will not be easily influenced by Sarawak DAP\u2019s \u201cImpian Sarawak\u201d propaganda.<\/p>\n
