Sarawak Deputy Premier and Minister for Public Health, Housing and Local Government, Dr Sim Kui Hian said the role played by Chinese school boards is not only to provide education for the development of Sarawak, but also to help shape the values of future Sarawakians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He also called on students to remain in Sarawak after completing their studies and contribute to the state’s development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said every Chinese educational institution is an important part of the Chinese community, while children represent Sarawak’s future. As such, advancing education is essential to ensuring better opportunities for the next generation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said this when officiating at the launch of the Smart Classroom at Chung Hua School in Miri. Under the programme, the Sarawak Government donated four interactive smart boards with integrated teaching systems to the school.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr Sim said there are currently 182 government aided Chinese primary schools in Sarawak, of which 92 have been equipped with Smart Classrooms. Of these, 48 were completed last year, while another 44 were completed this year, reflecting the state government’s continued commitment to advancing digital education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He stressed that education is not only about imparting knowledge, but also about nurturing values, as only those with the right values can achieve genuine success.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He added that developing education is not solely the government’s responsibility, but also requires the support and cooperation of the Chinese community, school boards, and all stakeholders to ensure the continued growth and progress of Chinese education in Sarawak.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr Sim also expressed appreciation to all parties who have consistently supported the development of Chinese education, including the United Chinese School Committees’ Association and school boards, whose efforts have enabled Chinese schools to develop steadily and embrace modernisation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said the Sarawak Government will continue increasing investment in education, including upgrading infrastructure and introducing digital teaching facilities, to ensure students can learn and grow in a better educational environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He also encouraged students to cherish the opportunity to learn, strive for excellence, and contribute to Sarawak’s future development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among those present were Sarawak Minister for Transport Lee Kim Shin, Deputy Minister for Tourism Sebastian Ting Chiew Yew, Federation of Sarawak Chinese Aided Primary School Boards chairman Jonathan Chai and Mayor Miri Adam Yii.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
