Batu Kawa assemblyman Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian is continuing efforts to develop more recreational and sports facilities in the constituency to promote healthy lifestyles and ensure residents have suitable places to exercise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to the 10 neighbourhood parks previously announced, a new recreational park will also be built near the Police General Operations Force (PGA) camp along Jalan Penrissen due to the area’s growing population. The Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) is currently processing the necessary documentation and procedures, with an open tender expected to be called in the near future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr Sim who is also Deputy Premier said Batu Kawa’s population continues to grow alongside rapid residential development, creating a greater need for recreational and sports facilities that allow residents to exercise regularly and maintain their physical and mental well-being.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He noted that the Batu Kawa Riverside Park has been well received by local residents since its completion, highlighting the importance and demand for community parks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Although the riverside park offers various recreational facilities for people of all ages, it is not convenient for residents living in housing areas located farther away,” he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“As we plan Batu Kawa’s future development, we have decided to build community parks in multiple residential areas so residents can enjoy recreational and exercise facilities closer to their homes. This will provide the public with more choices instead of relying solely on the riverside park.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Currently, the largest sports complex in the constituency is the Sports Centre, which serves as a venue for public events and gatherings. It is equipped with basketball and pickleball courts, while its spacious grounds are suitable for group activities such as aerobics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 10 approved neighbourhood park projects, with a total allocation of RM3.82 million, are funded under the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP). Construction began in April this year and is expected to be completed by February next year, with MPP overseeing implementation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The projects involve a combination of new park construction, upgrading and maintenance works, which are already progressing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Taman Moyan
Taman Highfield
Taman Desa Wira
Jalan Carina Estate
Jalan Batu Kawa Lorong 3
Taman Phoenix Batu Kawa
Jalan RPR Batu Kawa
Taman San Chin
Taman Vision Land<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, development plans for the area surrounding the quarry there are ready to proceed, with the Sarawak Government allocating RM8 million for the project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The overall development will cover about 70 acres and include the Blue Park, spanning more than 20 acres, which will feature various water sports facilities. A Green Park covering more than 40 acres will also be developed with an urban forest landscape and supporting amenities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr Sim reiterated that the Sarawak Government will continue investing in community infrastructure to improve residents’ quality of life, encourage healthy living, and support the sustainable development of Batu Kawa as a vibrant and liveable constituency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
