The 2025 Kuching Comic Con KCC officially opened yesterday, marking not only a gathering for pop culture enthusiasts but also a vibrant platform for creativity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sarawak Deputy Minister of Tourism Datuk Sebastian Ting attended the opening ceremony and said the event not only nurtures local talent but also empowers the creative community, positioning Sarawak as an emerging regional hub for the creative economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ting said KCC brings together comics, animation, film, games, content creation, cosplay, music and hobby culture into an integrated ecosystem that fully showcases the creative energy of Sarawak youth. He said, \u201cKCC is exactly the kind of creative movement we want to nurture. It is local, passionate and proud of Sarawak.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He stressed that the convention provides artists, performers and game developers with opportunities to showcase their work, helping local creative talents gradually step onto national and international stages. He added that the ministry will continue to support the creative community through training, workshops and knowledge sharing, creating platforms for artists, animators, illustrators, cosplayers and filmmakers to present their work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ting also noted that the creative industry has become an important part of Sarawak\u2019s transition towards an innovation driven society. He said the Kuching Comic Con inspires young people to use their imagination and innovate, while also stimulating economic growth by attracting visitors and exhibitors from across Malaysia and overseas. This, he added, helps boost spending in hotels, food and beverage, retail, transportation and entertainment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAs pop culture tourism becomes increasingly popular among millennials and Generation Z, Sarawak has the potential to become a regional creative tourism centre. We believe the Kuching Comic Con can grow into a signature annual tourism event,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
