The Padawan Municipal Council MPP has strengthened its preparedness for the rainy season by closely monitoring flood prone areas and implementing mitigation measures to address rainwater ponding and flash floods, with the aim of ensuring the safety of residents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

MPP said a series of proactive measures have been carried out to reduce flood risks and enhance public safety. These include trimming and cutting trees that obstruct motorists\u2019 visibility, especially during periods of heavy rain. Excavation works on earth drains at identified flood hotspots have also been conducted to improve water flow, along with routine drainage clearing to prevent blockages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, the concrete side drain project at Lorong 1 Arang Road has been fully completed, including backfilling and bitumen sealing works. The area had previously experienced persistent water ponding that affected nearby residents. The issue has since been resolved through the maintenance of a 79.6 metre covered drain and subsequent road resurfacing works carried out by the council.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During a site inspection, MPP chairman Councillor Tan Kai noted the positive response from the public and commended the council\u2019s efforts in implementing the drainage improvement and road level raising works, which he said have brought immediate benefits to residents in the area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tan Kai also said the MPP LA Serve Team remains on 24 hour standby to support emergency operations during the rainy season. He cited a recent incident two weeks ago when the team assisted in easing traffic congestion following a fallen tree at Jalan Penrissen, ensuring traffic safety and smooth flow while clearing works were carried out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He reiterated its commitment to safeguarding residents and strengthening flood mitigation efforts throughout the rainy season. The council also urged the public to remain alert to weather updates and to cooperate with instructions issued by the authorities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
