The Tering cultural festival, Ngelamaai Buraaq Idaang, is a symbol of gratitude, unity and identity that has been preserved for generations, says Deputy Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Datuk Sebastian Ting Chiew Yew.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said the celebration not only marks the joy of the harvest season but also recognises the hard work of the community while strengthening family and social bonds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe involvement of youth is crucial to ensure that this tradition continues from one generation to the next,\u201d Ting said when officiating the event at the Mulu Community Hall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He urged young people to stay committed to preserving the Tering cultural heritage and to take pride in their identity and history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ting also thanked the Tering Community Association Miri, the organising committee and local teams in Mulu for their efforts despite logistical challenges following the relocation of the event from Marudi to Mulu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Mulu Community Hall, he added was a meaningful choice as the area is known not only for its natural beauty but also for its strong cultural character.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The three day and two night festival featured traditional dances, folk storytelling and knowledge sharing sessions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
